Adam Gilchrist a hit with Delhi University students

Brand ambassador’s cricket connections deliver for ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ

ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ (ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ) Brand Ambassador and cricketing legend Adam Gilchrist, AM, has proved popular with Indian students while visiting Delhi University on Monday 9 September as part of a ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ delegation seeking closer collaboration with the leading institution.

Delhi University, which counts several elite Indian cricketers—including national team captains—among its alumni, arranged for a group of sports-talented students to greet the former Australian captain and wicket keeper as part of the visit.

The visit program centred around high level talks with Dehli University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yogesh Kumar Tyagi and a delegation of senior university leaders to explore potential research collaborations between the two institutions.

The ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ delegation, led by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Wellings CBE, comprised Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Strategy) Professor Alex Frino, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business, Charles Areni, Head of School of Law, Faculty of Law, Humanities & the Arts, Professor Colin Picker, Executive Director (Global), Mr Brett Lovegrove, Director Government Relations, Mr Canio Fierravanti, and Alumni Relations Coordinator (International), Evelyne Raymond.

Delhi University was recently named an ‘Institution of Eminence’, placing it in the top tier of Indian universities. ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ currently has connections between several individual academics and is looking to explore closer collaboration at the institutional level.

Gilchrist, who enjoys a high profile in India because of his successful international cricketing career, has played a pivotal role in facilitating ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ’s successful engagement with Indian institutions and corporations. 

He has assisted ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ delegations at meetings with Indian government and business leaders, hosted corporate functions, met prospective students and appeared in Indian media on behalf of ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ.

As well as being ÃÃÍÅÊÓƵ’s Brand Ambassador globally, Gilchrist also serves as Australia’s inaugural education ambassador to India.
